Overview

This special session focuses on discussing human sensing, activity recognition, recommendation system, robotics, and such broad topics from the viewpoint of community-centric systems. The community-centric system aims to support a whole community that organically collaborates with each user who performs their own role and task. Therefore, in terms of community, discussing human understanding methods and novel support systems as one of the essential components is important. In this session, we will discuss community-centric systems from various aspects widely.

Eri Sato-Shimokawara Kurnianingsih Hiroki Shibata

Eri Sato-Shimokawara, Tokyo Metropolitan University, :
received her B.E., M.E., and D.E. in Systems Engineering Science from Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Technology in 2002, 2004, and 2007. She was a Research Fellow of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) from 2004 to 2007. She has been an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of System Design of Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan, since 2007. Her current research interests include human-machine interactions, multimodal interactions, soft computing, and intelligent robotics. She is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Kurnianingsih, Politeknik Negeri Semarang, :
is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Politeknik Negeri Semarang, Indonesia. She received a B.Eng. in informatics engineering from the Telkom University, Indonesia, an M.Eng. in electrical engineering from the North Sumatera University, Indonesia, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. Her current research focuses on IoT, big data analytics, and computational intelligence. She is a Senior Member of IEEE. She has been an executive committee member in the IEEE Region 10 (Asia-Pacific Region) since 2018, appointed as Information Management Committee Chair. She was a recipient of the IEEE MGA Achievement Award in 2020 and a recipient of the IEEE Region 10 Young Professionals Award in Academician in 2018. She is a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (IEEE CIS), a member of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS), a member of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (IEEE SMCS), and a member of the IEEE Control System Society (CSS).

Hiroki Shibata, Tokyo Metropolitan University, :
received his B.E., M.E., and D.E. in Engineering from Tokyo Metropolitan University in 2014, 2016, and 2019. He has been an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of System Design of Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan, since 2019. His current research interests include optimization, route recommendation, machine learning. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
